Shorecrest @ Indian Rocks - Loss 2-1

Last year, Indian Rocks knocked the Chargers out of the Bay Conference Championship race with a 2-1 come from behind victory. Tonight, Shorecrest looked to avenge that disappointing loss only to find themselves on the losing end of another 2-1 result.

The Chargers took a 1-0 lead when Jake C. scored early on with a hard drive to the lower left corner after an IRC turnover. The team continued to move the ball well and looked as if they were going to control the tempo throughout. The tide slowly turned though, as Indian Rocks high pressure defense shut down the Chargers while igniting quick counter attacks. Despite the pressure, Shorecrest was able to hold the lead into the half and felt confident that they could maintain their advantage for another 40 minutes.

Soon after halftime though, IRC capitalized as their staunch defense continued to power their offense. Their aggressive, relentless pressure made every touch difficult for the Chargers limiting them to two shots in the second half. Within ten minutes of tying the game at 1 a piece, Indian Rocks scored the go ahead goal and never looked back. Shorecrest finished with a frenzy, as they did the other night, but the result was still the same with the team failing to score the equalizer.

Another difficult opponent awaits the team tomorrow night in Tampa Catholic. The game is at home and starts at 7:00 p.m.
