The Chargers put together one of their best games of the season in a 3-0 win against Cambridge in the first round of the district playoffs. From the outset, the team controlled play. Working the wings, Shorecrest was able to get off a number of quality crosses into the box and took a 1-0 lead off of one when Caelum S. volleyed a Brian W. pass into the net. During the second half, the domination continued. 15 minutes in, Jake C. was held from behind in the box. A foul was called and Rheese W. converted the PK for a 2-0 lead as the team continued to pressure. With 12 minutes left, it was Rheese who was fouled in the box. Jake was called to take the kick, but a coach's decision put Freddie B. behind the ball. Freddie went for the top corner as he had done routinely in practice, but the ball sailed over the crossbar. Cambridge made a few attempts to close the gap, but the defense anchored by Steven W., Hunter T., Thomas K., Armando A., goalie Ahmed D. held strong. With time running out, Jake C. took a Hunter T. long ball beating two defenders and half-volleyed the nail into the coffin. The win pits the Chargers against Out of Door who they tied earlier in the season in tomorrow's semifinal match.
