Berkeley Prep @ Shorecrest 0-4 Loss

For three fourths of the game the Chargers played evenly with 3A Berkeley Prep. Each team had opportunities with most of Shorecrest's coming off of cornerkicks or long throw-ins, but eventually it was Berkeley that capitalized. With about twenty minutes left a foul was called near midfield. The players up top from Berkeley loaded the right side of the eighteen and cleared out the center of the box. The ball was struck perfectly to the outside of the back post to a waiting opponent who then redirected the ball to the middle and a streaking teammate who headed the ball into the back of the net. With that one goal, the momentum changed. The defense lost continuity, misjudged a ball, and pushed up too far losing depth and in each case it cost the Chargers a goal. The final was 0-4, but was not really indicative of how well the team played. Compared to the previous match, the product was much improved.
