Shorecrest @ St. Pete Catholic - Win 3-1

The Chargers evened the score against St. Pete Catholic over the winter break by winning 3-1. The Chargers dominated from the get-go, but went down 0-1 when a phantom foul was called on the outskirts of the penalty box. After the half the score was evened up after a long throw in by Matt R. bounced off of a St. Pete Catholic defender into the goal. Shorecrest continued to control the ball and pushed on, but found themselves on the wrong side of another strange call when Sam C. was sent off with a yellow card while the player who threw a punch got away unpunished. After a few minutes on the bench, Sam asked to go back in. "Coach, I am ready. Put me back in. I'm going to score a goal." Sure enough, minutes later after reentering the game, Sam C took a great pass from freshman Chris H. and finished a breakaway to go up 2-1. A few minutes later Matt R. sealed the game when he took the ball from midfield down the sideline and up the endline. His shot squeaked past the keeper inside of the far post for a 3-1 lead. The team's record is now 4-5-2.
