The entire game was a tale of two sides. Shorecrest was sound defensively and created more dangerous scoring opportunities that were capitalized on. Indian Rocks, on the otherhand, dominated in 50/50 balls, possession, and agressiveness, but had too many cracks in the defense that the Chargers took advantage of.
Shorecrest nearly held on for its second shutout, but gave up a sloppy last minute goal as the ball bounced from to head to head to head just in front of the goal. By this time the outcome had been determined though, as the Chargers were in command 3-0 as the clock ticked away. Rheese W. started the scoring in the first half when the Indian Rocks keeper cleared a ball to him at the center circle. He immediately streaked up the center of the field beating two defenders to place the ball nicely into the right side of the net. A few minutes later, Rheese poked the ball to freshman Jake D. in the box. Jake pushed the ball immediately to the near post and beat the keeper to the left side to go up 2-0. In the second half, the script continued as mentioned above; the Chargers held strong despite being outworked physically on the field. A number of dangerous scoring opportunities were created, but they didn't connect until Rheese W. took a pass from Max F. and again pushed the ball straight up the middle. This time he was out numbered, but a great diagonal run by freshman Matt L. confused the defenders into spreading like the Red Sea. Now free to do his thing, Rheese W. dribbled the keeper and put the Chargers up 3-0 late in the game.
