Phillip M. scores two goals to lead Shorecrest past host Bishop McLaughlin 2-1.

With almost two weeks between matches, the team hoped to follow up a strong come back against Northside by winning the Bishop Mclaughlin Christmas Tournament for the second consecutive year. It started slowly however with an uneventful first half in which the Chargers were only able to create a few chances against a defense that was content with hanging back. The few counter attacks mounted by Bishop McLaughlin were thwarted by the Shorecrest defense playing with a sweeper for the first time this season. After the midpoint though, the team finally broke through when Rheese W. found Phillip M. to take a 1-0 lead. A few minutes later, a switch of the field got Alex H. the ball on the left wing. With room to dribble he attracted two defenders and then sent Phillip M. a ball in the box. Phillip wasted no time in scoring his second goal of the game. With a 2-0 lead, fill-in goalkeeper Alistair F. attempted to stop a one on one. The ball deflected off of him, but managed to duck just under the crossbar to cut the score 2-1. That chance was the last for the opponent, as Shorecrest controlled possession for the remainder of the game.

Next up is Cambridge who the team defeated 1-0 earlier in the year.
