Shorecrest vs St. Pete Catholic 2-1 WIN

The Chargers are now 2-0 after defeating St. Pete Catholic on Tuesday afternoon. Anticipating an even match, Shorecrest took the initiative early and controlled the tempo and possession of the ball from the first whistle. After a couple of early chances slipped by on corners, Zach F. back-healed a low driven corner from Alex H. into the goal for a 1-0 lead. The boys took that lead into the half as the defense lead by Steven W. held St. Pete Catholic to only one scoring opportunities in the first 40 minutes.

The second half was a different story, as the opponent upped their intensity as the tide turned. Shorecrest found themselves on their heels and their play echoed their anxiousness. The team still was able to create a few excellent scoring chances. but were unable to capitalize - which left the door open for one mistake to change the game. That mistake came when St. Pete Catholic stepped to a quick throw from Jeremy R. and without hesitation blasted it into the net. The team, didn't fold though, and pushed back to create more chances. With little time left in the game, Rheese W. broke free after beating a few defenders to take the lead back for good. The final 2-1
