The Chargers finally broke into the win column and did so in an emphatic way against Calvary Christian. From the first touch, the Chargers controlled the tempo and the ball. Although the team maintained pressure early, it wasn't until the 23rd minute that the 0-0 deadlock was broken. Caelum S. received a long throw-in from Jules J. at the corner of the goal box. He almost lost control on the turn, but was poised enough to regain control and drive it past the goalie. Six minutes later Alex H. sent a through ball to Stephen W. who rifled the ball on goal. The keeper deflected it, but it was too powerful and crossed the line. The second half was no different as the Chargers continued to press. At the 57 minute mark, Steven W. challenged for a 50/50 ball. The ball ended up at the feet of Senior Matt R. who fired a low driven ball just inside the right post. The scoring was capped off by Brian G. with just 9 minutes remaining. Receiving a pass from Jerome J., he split two defenders, juked a third, entered the penalty box and blasted a shot low and hard past the goalie.
The defense was solid and played well offensively in support of the midfield. The team outshot Calvary 26-2 with Ahmed D. recording a shutout.
